I perform men’s haircuts at American Haircuts in Midtown. It is located at the intersection of 10th St and West Peachtree. The Midtown Marta station is about 200 feet away from the shop

20 10th Street NW, Suite 100
Atlanta, Georgia 30309

About Parking

There are a couple options…

Best: Aqua Building

Our building has a 7-spot parking garage on 10th street as you approach from 75/85. If you can get one of those spots, then it’s really simple and free.

Better: a block south on west peachtree

I have not seen these spots with my own eyes (I pay monthly to park catty-cornered from the shop at the 10Ten Center. However, several people in my chair have told me of parking spots on the street for around $2/hour near Publix. They tell me it’s either just before or just after.

Good: There are pay lots everywhere

Unless you are coming in for a master shave or a haircut and beard trim, the chance of your being in that spot more than an hour is pretty slim. My “be prepared” self would say to plan on being parked about an hour and a half to allow for any delays.

bad / risky

I am not recommending this. All I know is that I have had clients who told me that they shopped at Publix before seeing me and left their car in the lot and walked the one block to our shop. I’ve heard that they are more aggressive about booting cars on the actual parking level for Publix than they are by the restaurants. Again, I am not recommending this. I’m just passing along what some people in my chair have told me.

After you have booked your appointment:
TEXT 404-784-2811
to let me know that you have booked your appointment. I will check the booking to make sure that we have everything you need, including the time, for your appointment.

This is also a chance to ask questions or provide information that you would like for me to have before our appointment. Some clients will send me a current photo and/or a photo of haircuts that they like.

Dave Cuts – A barber for gentlemen

appointment information

My name is David Green. Some in the Barbering industry refer to me as “The Silver Scissor.” I am a barber in Atlanta providing men’s haircut services. Most of my clients are managers, executives, and the professionals who meet with them. They maintain a clean, well put together appearance, and cannot risk having someone say or think that they are “looking shaggy.”

My Barber Chair is a place where a man can relax. He can turn off the world for a while and “recharge his batteries.” I keep the conversation light, or you can simply take in a few moments of peace while I go to work. Some clients opt for a silent haircut where they can “zone out” and unwind in peace while I go to work, only breaking the silence to check along the way to make sure that they are getting the haircut they want.

All men’s haircut services include:

  • A personal consultation where we talk in detail about the haircut that you would like. Men’s haircuts come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and many hairstyles are more than the “#2 on the sides and scissors on top” which new clients have experienced in the past. Some clients bring pictures on their phones of hairstyles to show what they do and don’t like, and others bring previous pictures of themselves to show me how they have worn their hair in the past. I ask a variety of questions during our consultations before I start cutting.
  • A men’s haircut tailor-made for your image, morning routine, and lifestyle.
  • I shave the neck with hot lather and a straight razor (I will use an alternative to the razor if I observe that the skin is too sensitive, or if any other condition would prohibit the use of a razor).
  • I like to offer an optional vigorous shampoo and hair conditioning treatment with each cut.

You can take my notes home with you

When I lived in Seattle, one of my mentors often said “the dullest pen remembers better than the sharpest mind.”

My clients enjoy the fact that I write notes on every haircut and take reference photos so that the next time they are in my chair, we have a starting point. It is more dependable than “do what you did last time.: Sometimes the client says “same thing, but lets go a little longer” or a little shorter.

I encourage every client to take pictures of my notes and their haircut in their own phone so that we can get right to work rather that wait for me to find their notes from over a couple hundred other haircuts.

The Most Popular Barber Services and haircuts for men

These are the services which are most often requested by my clients.

Master Men’s Haircut + Beard Trim

I receive more requests for a Master Haircut combined with a Beard Trim than most of my other services.

This is a full grooming service for the head and face. I treat your hair and beard as two parts of the same presentation. The service begins with a specialized consultation which focuses on your beard shape and style, with a cut designed for your face shape and hair type and density. Most beards are usually blended or faded into each other, and then taper through the sideburns down to the jaw and lower beard area.

I finish each cut with a razor outline and edging both on the face and the neck.

I personally recommend finishing with a vigorous shampoo and conditioning treatment. It washes the little hairs out of your head and leaves your hair and head feeling great (pro tip: this also lets me see what your hair does after you wash it at home and to make any needed adjustments).

This service usually takes about 45 minutes – $72 including the shampoo and conditioning treatment
Book as Master Haircut + Beard Combo and select the Shampoo Add-on

Head Shave + Beard Trim

A large number of my clients have little to no hair above the ears, These gentlemen receive the full relaxation and benefit of the hot towels treatment that comes with the head shave.

I finish each head shave with my straight razor. I use clippers, trimmers, and a foil shave to get most of the hair out of the way, and then let my razor do its job of getting it down to smooth skin.

Hair types and textures vary. I do not “dig” with my razor. Your comfort and safety are my focus. The hair removal is secondary to those two things. So I touch up any really stubborn areas with my other tools.

When the head is finished, I begin with your beard.

As with any haircut, your beard is the centerpiece of your look and presentation, and deserves to be treated as such, complete with a proper beard consultation where we talk about your beard and what you want to do with it. I finish each cut with a razor outline and edging both on the face and the neck.

I like to finish with a relaxing shampoo treatment. After a shaved head, the cleansing, moisturizing and massaging action that takes place simply feels fantastic and invigorating.

This service usually takes about 45 minutes to an hour – $82 including the shampoo.
Book as a Razor Head Shave and a Master Beard Trim and select the Shampoo Add-on

Why do I “push” a shampoo after a haircut?

Yes – I like to shampoo and condition hair after a haircut (sometimes, it needs to be done beforehand – but I rarely see customers with their hair in that condition). Sometimes, a customer needs to get back to the day and they don’t have time for it.

But when you do have time for a shampoo, I always recommend it.

Full Disclosure: Yes, I receive a commission for each shampoo. It’s about $2.50, which might get me a cup of coffee in some places. Clearly it is not about the money.

I simply understand what a shampoo and conditioning does for a haircut.

Anyone can look good when you leave the Barber’s Chair, yet the shampoo and conditioning treatment does a few things

  • It feels fantastic and can be a “moment of zen” to reset and a quick recharge of your batteries
  • It exposes things that can be missed – these things usually show up at home when you take your next shower. The shampoo service lets me as a Barber address it before you leave the Chair.
  • It helps you keep your look consistent. When I shampoo your hair, I’m walking you through how I dry your hair and style it with clean hair like you would do at home so that you can replicate it.
  • It gets those annoying little hairs off of your head

This is why I “push” for shampooing your hair. It’s about keeping your hair looking great after you leave the Barber’s Chair.

UNLIMITED HAIRCUTS

This is what I tell everybody about unlimited men’s haircuts… I jokingly refer to it as my high-pressure sales pitch.

One appointment in my chair starts at $57… Most of my clients see me once or twice a month.

Thirty dollars more gets you unlimited haircuts each month. So for $90, less than the price of two men’s haircuts, you can keep your hair looking great without it ever getting shaggy.

If you wear a professional haircut, you can keep it clean by coming in every two weeks. If you have a short hairstyle, you can keep it looking its freshest by coming in every week.

I compare it to my unlimited car washes… I’m there two three times a week.

Unlimited Benchmark® Haircuts are $120 per month with the full spa treatment every time you come in.

That is as high-pressure as I get.

Men’s Haircuts

CLASSIC MEN’S HAIRCUT and/or Skin Fade

Whether you are getting ready for an important executive management meeting or a weekend trip to the mountains, the classic haircut for men will have you looking and feeling your best.

When you choose to do a Skin Fade, the cut is faded to the skin with a trimmer, foil shaver, or straight edge. I do these for same price as a Classic Haircut

I begin all Men’s Haircuts with a personalized consultation. We discuss what you have in mind, and I ask several questions, such as who will be seeing your hair, about your morning routine (do you spend twenty minutes in front of a mirror, or are you a wash-and-go guy?), and most importantly, what type of haircut you want to receive.

Some clients bring me pictures of themselves from before, when they liked their haircut, and others bring pictures of haircuts they like and haircuts they do not like.

We then move on to a precision men’s haircut and neck shave, then a vigorous shampoo and the application of a conditioning treatment to the hair.

The haircut finished with a quick styling session. I select products to put in your hair to keep your haircut looking its best and show you how to maintain the look as it grows over the next weeks.

The Classic Haircut or Skin Fade takes about 30 minutes to complete – $44 including a shampoo service
Longer hair may cost extra.
Book as a Classic Men’s Haircut or Skin Fade and select the Shampoo Add-on

EXPRESS BUZZCUT

You want a buzzcut, but you want it done the right way and not look like a home haircut.

This deluxe buzzcut is a #4 or shorter buzz with a tapered side and back, finished with a hot lather neck shave and hot towel massage.
Note: A Buzzcut does NOT include skin fades. For skin fades, book a Skin Fade.

The Express Buzzcut takes about 15 minutes to complete – $28 including a shampoo service

CLIPPER HEAD SHAVE

Just like our Express Buzzcut, except we take it all off all the way down to nothing. Finished with a foil shaver, hot lather neck shave and a hot towel.

The Clipper Head Shave takes about 15 minutes to complete – $28 including a shampoo service

Neck Clean Up

Some of my clients’ neck hair grows more quickly than their head hair. Mine does the same thing… or at least it looks like it does. Coming to see me a couple weeks after a haircut lets me trim the hair off their necks and around their ears and keeps them cleaned off for a couple more weeks while the rest of their hair catches up. fresh with a quick neck cleanup, including a precision shave of the back of the neck.

It only takes a few minutes to do a quick neck cleanup, so you don’t need to set an appointment for one. Just come in and I will get you after I finish the next cut.

Men’s Haircuts

Express Haircut for Men

Whether you are getting ready for an important executive management meeting or a weekend trip to the mountains, the express haircut for men will have you looking and feeling your best.

I begin every Express Haircut with a personalized consultation. We discuss what you have in mind, and I ask several questions, such as who will be seeing your hair, about your morning routine (do you spend twenty minutes in front of a mirror, or are you a wash-and-go guy?), and most importantly, what type of haircut you want to  recieve.

$50.00 – 30min

Neck Clean Up

Some of my clients’ neck hair grows more quickly than their head hair. Mine does the same thing… or at least it looks like it does. Coming to see me a couple weeks after a haircut lets me trim the hair off their necks and around their ears and keeps them cleaned off for a couple more weeks while the rest of their hair catches up. fresh with a quick neck cleanup, including a precision shave of the back of the neck.

Clients who want a detailed lineup of the entire face should book a “Detailed Edge Up” (see the Beards and Mustaches section below)
$15.00 -15min

Bald Fade

When someone asks for a skin fade, I automatically ask them if they want the skin to be bald or if they want a little hair left over, or a “shadow fade” as some call it. I have found that when someone asks for a skin fade or some other kind of fade, the expectation varies between people. So I like to clarify before I start cutting,

After installing a bald fade,  I prefer to use a straight razor to finish the cut if time allows.
$55.00 – 45min

The Benchmark Haircut®

I like to describe this service as a chance for a man to stop the world, put the phone on silent, and relax for about an hour… and when they are done, they will also have a haircut.

While I perform precision haircuts, my main focus, especially with a Benchmark haircut, is for you to be able to relax… which a lot of us men forget to do.

The Benchmark includes all of the steps that an Express Haircut provides, such as the personal consultation, neck shave, and vigorous shampoo. It also has around 15 minutes of additional service such as:

  • The standard conditioning treatment becomes a deep hair conditioning treatment for healthier and more manageable hair
  • Stress relieving paraffin hand dip which continues to moisturize your hands over the next 24-48 hours
  • Relaxing and soothing pressure point massage of your hands, forearms, neck, and scalp

I finish by styling your hair and demonstrating what you can do to keep that style consistent so that it keeps looking good over the coming weeks.
$65.00 – 45min

Hot Shaves

Razor head Shave

Treating someone to a hot lather head shave is hands-down my favorite service to provide.

I don’t know how many times someone with little to no hair has told me that they have never been to a traditional barber. I meet a lot of people, and there’s almost a script that gets followed which says “I don’t have anything for you to work with.”

They are surprised when I tell them that they are among my favorite people to have in my chair… especially if they have a beard.

Head shaves are not as much about the hair removal (sometimes it’s not 100%) as they are about the experience of a hot lather shave with the lotions and oils which I massage the head with, and the steam towels which I relax the skin and ease the mind with.

I begin by removing the existing hair with clippers, trimmers, and sometimes a foil shaver, depending on the hair. I then apply a pre-shaving treatment and oil with a steam towel to soften the skin, open the pores, and to prepare the remaining hair for the razor to do its job.

I then apply oils and a hot lather to the head and begin the shave re-applying the oils and lather as necessary.

We end with an aftershave and then I massage cooling moisturizing cream into the scalp and set it with another steam towel.

I treat head shaves as mini-vacations in my chair, and like to finish with a relaxing shampoo treatment. After a shaved head, the cleansing, moisturizing and massaging action that takes place simply feels fantastic and invigorating.

This service usually takes about 45 minutes to an hour – $82 including the shampoo.

Traditional Hot Lather Shave

This is a classic shave during which I go with and against the grain of the hair.

Note: I do not “dig” or use a lot of pressure with a razor for a variety of reasons, primarily safety, comfort, and to reduce skin irritation. When I identify a trouble spot, I use my foil shaver in those areas and for touchup work.

Traditional hot lather shaves include a pre-shave treatment and oils with steamed towels. I finish with an aftershave oil or gel and light skin massage.
This service usually takes about 30-45 minutes and is available by appointment only. Text 404-784-2811 to make arrangements.

Beards and Mustaches

Beards are the centerpiece for many men’s faces, and I treat them with the same reverence as I treat bald head shaves.

We begin with a detailed consultation about your beard. I am concentrating on a few key details during this conversation.

Working from the top of the beard down, we discuss how you would like your beard to come into the sides of your face. Many opt for me to “fade” the beard in.

The cheeks are usually a main concern, especially for people who are growing the beard in. This is the zone where most patchiness appears. While I can alter the shape of the beard so that they are not an issue, this process keeps cutting them down and often discourages the wearer from keeping the beard.

I prefer to work with these patchy areas and integrate them into the beard design, usually by fading the beard in more smoothly and over a larger area. This allows these areas to grow in so that we can see what we really has over time.

At the end of the service, lining up the cheeks and face with a razor will help those areas to be more visible, as well.

Moving to the lips and chin… Guinness did a study and found that the average beard takes in 1.9 pints of beer each year. I like to trim the mustache so that it’s short enough to not be sharing your drinks and food.

I trim the rest of the beard to your desired length (or de-scraggle it) and set a shave line on your neck which defines your beard and makes it stand out.

CLASSIC BEARD TRIM (CLIPPERS ONLY)

Keep that beard looking sharp with our professional beard trim and shaping using clippers to shape and outline the beard.

Note: This is a maintenance trim, not a redefinition or beard transformation

This is a 15-minte service – $14

This can be a standalone service, or it can be added onto a beard trim or any haircut.

Color and Other Services

The following services are available by appointment only. Text 404-784-2811 to make arrangements.

Fountain of Youth

This gray muting/camouflaging service helps you look younger without looking like someone painted your head a darker color.

This service is ideal for men with salt and pepper color patterns who want to darken the salt so that it doesn’t stand out as much. The result is your hair will retain its natural color and the white and gray hairs will mostly look like variations of that color.

I use the 1922 Men’s Coloring line from Keune. It is specifically designed for this kind of service. In my experience, I’ve tried a few different lines, and Keune’s color covers the gray the closest to a man’s natural color hair with natural variations of your natural color.

We begin with a consultation during which I will identify your natural shade and select the best match ranging from jet black to light blonde. We will identify which ares (if any) you would like to focus on, and then we will apply the product, wash it out after processing, and then style your hair.
$50.00 – 30min
Add your beard – starting at $20
Add an Men’s Haircut – $57
Add a beard trim – $18

Waxing – Eyebrows, Ears, Nose

Remove the unsightly hairs from your ears, nose, or eyebrows. I use a hard wax, which is more comfortable than some of the other options available in other shops.

Note: The eyebrow service should not be confused with shaping or micro blading. My eyebrow service removes hairs surrounding the area around the eyebrows
Choose one service: $18.00 – 15min
Two services: $30.00 – 15min
All three services: $45.00 – 30min

Transformational Haircut

I enjoy transformational haircuts. Yet, they can be difficult to quote without actually seeing the hair and the desired end result. The transformative haircut begins with a detailed consultation, and then we will walk through the haircut.

The nature of this haircut will involve stopping along the way to check progress. Sometimes the hair changes during the cut (for example, hair in cowlicks can change direction dramatically as it becomes shorter), and it can change the end result. When I see this happening, we can talk more at that time and make changes to our plans as necessary.
Starting at $75.00 and 45min

About David

I’m a native “ATL-ien” and spent eight years as a musician in the Navy, mostly in Japan and Seattle.

When I get a haircut, I treat it the same way I treat my foot and arm massages. Haircuts are a chance to stop my world, put the phone down, and simply relax in the hands of a barber.

I treat my clients with the same standard. Haircuts in my chairs are unrushed, receiving focused attention and the time they deserve. It is your time to relax, and to stop your world for a while and recharge, all while refreshing your look.

When I am not cutting hair or teaching barbering students at the Gwinnett Barber Institute, I can usually be found spending time with my family, or at an Atlanta United match yelling and chanting in the Supporters Section down by the home goal with Footie Mob and the other groups.
